AI search statistics for Singapore in 2026 show your buyers meeting an AI answer before a list of links, so the business named in that answer reaches the shortlist first. Google reports over 2 billion monthly AI Overviews users. When an AI summary appeared, Pew Research Center found US users clicked a traditional result in 8% of visits, against 15% without one. Singapore pairs 98.4% internet penetration with SME AI adoption that more than tripled in 2024.

Overall AI Search Adoption
Your buyers now meet AI answers on surfaces that count their users in the hundreds of millions and billions, so visibility inside those answers shapes who reaches the shortlist. Gartner forecasts that traditional search engine volume falls 25% by 2026 as people move to AI chatbots and virtual agents (Gartner's 2024 search volume forecast). Google reports its AI Overviews had over 2 billion monthly users across more than 200 countries and territories and 40 languages as of July 2025 (Google's Q2 2025 earnings remarks on AI Overviews reach), and OpenAI reports more than 800 million weekly ChatGPT users by October 2025 (OpenAI's DevDay 2025 page on ChatGPT weekly users). Google counts monthly users and OpenAI counts weekly users, so the two figures do not compare directly.

Singapore-Specific Adoption and Behaviour
Singapore pairs near-total internet reach with a steep rise in SME adoption of AI, which makes AI-answer visibility a priority for your leads in Singapore now, not a future one. DataReportal recorded 5.78 million internet users in Singapore in October 2025, a 98.4% penetration rate (DataReportal Digital 2026 Singapore report). The Infocomm Media Development Authority reported Singapore SME AI adoption tripling from 4.2% to 14.5% in 2024, with SMEs adopting AI solutions under the Productivity Solutions Grant achieving average cost savings of 52% (IMDA Singapore Digital Economy Report 2025). Neither figure measures how many Singapore buyers use AI search, and Aemorph's verified statistics library holds no figure that does yet.

How large is the Australia-Singapore trade corridor?
Singapore ranks among Australia's largest trading partners, with A$47.3 billion in two-way goods and services trade in 2023-24. According to Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), two-way trade reached A$47.3 billion in 2023-24, with A$24.7 billion in Australian exports and A$22.6 billion in imports, making Singapore Australia's 6th-largest export destination and 5th-largest import source. If you sell across the corridor, AI answers in both markets draw on the same public record of your brand.
AI Overview Trigger Rates by Vertical
AI summaries reach most searchers even though they appear on a minority of searches, so they shape your visibility in every vertical: in Pew's US study, about 18% of Google searches produced an AI summary in March 2025, and 58% of users met at least one (Pew Research Center's 2025 AI summary click study). Aemorph's verified statistics library holds no Singapore trigger rates by vertical yet, so this US rate is the closest measured figure. The shopping, education and finance surveys below show how buyers in three verticals already use AI tools.

How do US shoppers use generative AI?
In Adobe's survey of 5,000 US consumers, published on 17 March 2025, 39% had used generative AI for online shopping. Respondents named research (55%) and product recommendations (47%) among the shopping tasks they use it for, and 87% of those who had used AI for shopping said they were more likely to use it for larger or more complex purchases (Adobe Analytics 2025 generative-AI retail traffic report). In the same release, Adobe Analytics recorded traffic to United States retail sites from generative-AI sources rising 1,200% in February 2025 against July 2024, across data covering more than one trillion site visits. Both measures cover the United States, not buyers in Singapore or Australia.

How do prospective students and financial consumers use AI tools?
Half of the adults in a 2025 UPCEA and Search Influence survey use AI tools as they use Google, and 51% of respondents to a 2025 J.D. Power survey of US consumers had used an AI tool to get financial advice or information. UPCEA and Search Influence surveyed 760 adults aged 18 to 60 in March 2025 and released the results on 13 October 2025 (UPCEA and Search Influence 2025 AI Search in Higher Education study release). J.D. Power's figure comes from its July 2025 Polaris Pulse Survey of United States consumers, in a document dated September 2025 (J.D. Power 2025 report on consumers and AI in financial services). The UPCEA release names no country for its sample, J.D. Power discloses no sample size, and neither survey covers Singapore or Australia.

How ready are websites for AI crawlers?
Few websites yet name GPTBot in robots.txt, and many still miss basic technical health checks. HTTP Archive's Web Almanac 2025 found that GPTBot was named in 4.5% of desktop robots.txt files in 2025, up from 2.9% in 2024, that 48% on mobile and 56% on desktop achieved a good overall Core Web Vitals result in June 2025, and that robots.txt requests returned a success status on 84.9% of sites, while 13.3% of desktop sites returned a 404. Crawler access is one technical prerequisite for an engine to retrieve your website's content; on its own it does not decide whether an AI summary appears or whether your brand is cited. A robots.txt file names GPTBot either to allow it or to block it, so the 4.5% counts files that address the crawler, not sites that admit it.

Citation Frequency for SMEs
AI summaries draw clicks away from the links below them, so the businesses named inside the answer gain ground with your buyers and the rest lose it. Pew Research found that a Google results page carrying an AI summary led to a click on a traditional result link in only 8% of visits, against 15% of visits without a summary, and that users clicked a source cited inside the AI summary in just 1% of visits (Pew Research Center, 22 July 2025; 900 US adults, March 2025).
A source cited inside an AI summary drew a click in just 1% of visits in Pew's US sample, so being named in the answer matters more than the click it sends.
| Search page | What the user clicked | Share of visits | Sample | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No AI summary | A traditional result link | 15% | 900 US adults, March 2025 | Pew Research Center, 22 Jul 2025 |
| With an AI summary | A traditional result link | 8% | 900 US adults, March 2025 | Pew Research Center, 22 Jul 2025 |
| With an AI summary | A source cited inside the summary | 1% | 900 US adults, March 2025 | Pew Research Center, 22 Jul 2025 |

Aemorph's verified statistics library holds no measure yet of how often AI answers cite Singapore SMEs; the closest measured signals are Pew's click data above and Gartner's B2B buyer research. In B2B, Gartner research (2020) shows buyers typically spend only 17% of their time meeting with potential suppliers when they are considering a purchase (Gartner's 2020 B2B buying research release), and a Gartner sales survey published 25 June 2025 found 61% of B2B buyers prefer an overall rep-free buying experience (Gartner's 2025 B2B rep-free buying survey).

How often do AI assistants get news answers wrong?
An EBU and BBC study published in October 2025 found at least one significant issue in 45% of 2,709 AI assistant answers to questions about the news. The study assessed answers from ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini and Perplexity (EBU and BBC News Integrity in AI Assistants report, 2025). It covered news questions, not questions about businesses, and reports no figure for Singapore or Australia.

How many businesses count as small or medium in Singapore and Australia?
SMEs made up 99% of Singapore's 371,000 enterprises in 2025, and small businesses accounted for 97% of Australia's actively trading businesses at 30 June 2026. The Singapore Department of Statistics defines an SME as an enterprise with operating revenue of not more than S$100 million or employment of not more than 200 workers (Singapore Department of Statistics enterprise landscape data on data.gov.sg). In Australia, the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) counts a small business as one with fewer than 20 employees and reports 2,741,087 of them actively trading on 30 June 2026, citing Australian Bureau of Statistics data (ASBFEO small business population data). The two definitions differ, so the two shares do not compare directly.

What does the GEO benchmark study measure?
Aggarwal and colleagues tested Generative Engine Optimisation methods on a benchmark of 10,000 queries and reported visibility lifts of up to 40% in generative engine responses. GEO, Generative Engine Optimisation, is the work of getting your business cited inside the AI chats; it builds on SEO, search engine optimisation, which earns your place in Google's regular results, and AEO, Answer Engine Optimisation, which gets you quoted in Google AI Overviews and featured snippets. The paper, presented at KDD 2024 and revised on 28 June 2024, also reported lifts of up to 37% on Perplexity, a commercially deployed generative engine (the GEO study by Aggarwal and colleagues, KDD 2024). The study is a research benchmark with no country scope, and it measures neither Aemorph's work nor any Singapore business.

Where do these statistics come from?
Each external figure comes from its named publisher and is linked in the section that uses it; Aemorph's client figures trace to Ahrefs organic data from August 2026, and Aemorph's citation example comes from a recorded ChatGPT session on 4 August 2026. Aemorph last re-read all eleven external sources on 5 October 2026. The nine publishers each do one of four things:
- Forecasts traditional search engine volume, in Gartner's 2024 research; Gartner's 2020 research and its 2025 sales survey supply the B2B buyer figures.
- Reports AI Overviews reach, in Google's July 2025 earnings remarks.
- Reports ChatGPT weekly users, on OpenAI's DevDay 2025 page.
- Reports Singapore SME AI adoption and Productivity Solutions Grant cost savings, in IMDA's Singapore Digital Economy Report 2025.
- Measures click behaviour and AI-summary prevalence, in Pew Research Center's 2025 study of 900 US adults.
- Measures generative-AI traffic to US retail sites, in Adobe Analytics data covering more than one trillion visits.
- Records Singapore's internet users, in DataReportal's Digital 2026 Singapore report.
- Measures Core Web Vitals results and robots.txt rules, including GPTBot, in HTTP Archive's Web Almanac 2025.
- Records Australia-Singapore two-way trade, in DFAT's Singapore country economic factsheet.
Aemorph read six further sources at the primary source on 8 October 2026: UPCEA and Search Influence surveyed prospective students, the EBU and the BBC assessed AI assistants' news answers, J.D. Power surveyed financial consumers, the Singapore Department of Statistics and ASBFEO count businesses by size, and Aggarwal and colleagues tested GEO methods. Adobe's consumer survey sits in the same Adobe release as the retail traffic figure.
How often is this page updated?
Aemorph keeps each figure dated and reviews it against its source. For each statistic, Aemorph:
- Refreshes the figure when its source publishes a newer number.
- Dates the statistic to the year of its source.
- Removes the figure once it loses a current primary source, rather than leaving it to age.
Turn These Numbers Into Visibility
Find out where your business stands in the AI answers your buyers read, so you know which visibility gaps stand between you and your next leads. Every engagement starts with a free 30 to 60 minute strategic conversation, in which Aemorph learns about your business, introduces what it does and shares relevant case studies. The Hallucination Diagnostic then tests 50 to 150 prompts across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, depending on the size and complexity of your business, with the report in 5 business days, presented on a call. The Diagnostic is included in the Showstopper Sensor (Sprint 1), Aemorph's 30-day AI answer sprint, the AEO-GEO Audit and the ESAG audit, the enterprise SEO, AEO and GEO audit, so if you buy one of those three, you never buy it separately.
