Content marketing earns a buyer's trust before the first sales call, by answering questions in every format your Australian buyers use. It covers articles, video, email, interest media marketing and influencer partnerships. Aemorph's LLM Influencer System, its SEO, AEO and GEO programme, puts that content in front of buyers in three places. Those places are Google, AI chats such as ChatGPT, and interest media such as LinkedIn and YouTube. Remarkable Furniture grew organic traffic 213% in 13 months with Aemorph's team.

Content Marketing Earns Attention Across Six Formats
Content marketing uses useful material in six formats to earn attention before a sales conversation starts, and each format reaches Australian buyers where they already spend time. An advert interrupts a buyer to make a pitch. Content marketing is invited in, because it answers a question the buyer already has. Each useful piece adds to the trust the last one built, and a good piece shows you understand the problem before any meeting.
A full content programme for an Australian audience covers these formats:
- Articles, guides and downloadable resources that answer your buyers' questions in depth.
- Video for the audience that prefers to watch.
- Email newsletters for readers who have asked to hear from you. Under the Spam Act 2003, ACMA tells senders to get consent first, identify themselves and honour unsubscribe requests within 5 working days (Spam Act guide).
- Interest media marketing: posts, videos and episodes on LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit and podcasts, platforms built around topics and the voices who discuss them.
- Influencer partnerships that carry your message to a creator's audience.
- Structured reference content written so an AI system quotes it accurately, and a person reads it just as easily.
What is content marketing in Australia?
Content marketing in Australia is a marketing approach in which a business publishes material its chosen audience finds useful, so that audience returns, comes to trust the business and eventually buys, with the sale earned by usefulness and not asked for in every piece.
What is interest media marketing?
Interest media marketing is the practice of putting your content on platforms that organise what people see by their interests, such as LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit and podcasts, so that people who follow your topic meet your business through it. Aemorph uses the term in place of social media marketing, because most of these platforms now recommend content by interest and not by friendship. Meta's post-trial brief in the US Federal Trade Commission's antitrust case put content from friends at about 17% of time on Facebook and 7% of time on Instagram in 2025 (Fast Company, August 2025; Meta's own claim in a legal filing, as reported). Interest media marketing is also called interest media optimisation (IMO). At Aemorph, the work means every post, video and episode states the same verified facts as your website.
What is a content marketing agency in Australia?
A content marketing agency plans, produces and distributes content for a business, usually covering strategy, writing, editing and distribution on the channels where its audience spends time. Aemorph links that work to SEO, AEO and GEO, so the content serves search and AI visibility as well as the audience.
Australian Search and AI Use Give Your Content More Than One Reader
Google held 87.9% of search engine market share in Australia in September 2026 and Bing 9.17% (StatCounter), and 48.6% of Australian adults had used generative AI at least once, so Australian content has machine readers as well as human ones. Ahrefs records about 1,600 Australian searches a month for "content marketing" and 250 for "what is content marketing".

With Bing at 9.17% of the Australian market, Aemorph tracks your content in Bing Webmaster Tools as well as Google Search Console. The ABS size bands show AI use rising with business size: about 11% of small and micro businesses, 22% of medium businesses and around 35% of large businesses used AI in 2024-25. More dated Australian figures sit on the AI search statistics for Australia page.
Each Format Does a Different Job in Your Content Marketing
Each format does a different job: interest media marketing builds familiarity, video explains, influencers lend trust, email keeps the audience and articles hold the facts. The table sets the jobs side by side, with the measure that fits each.
| Format | Job in the programme | Best buying stage | Measure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Articles and guides | Answer the buyer's question and hold the facts | Early to late | Rankings, clicks and enquiries |
| Video | Explain a product or idea in minutes | Early to middle | Views, watch time and enquiries |
| Keep an audience that asked to hear from you | Middle to late | Replies, enquiries and list growth | |
| Interest media marketing | Build familiarity and put your facts in front of readers who follow industry voices | Early to middle | Reach, saves, mentions, citations and enquiries |
| Influencer partnerships | Borrow a creator's trust with their audience | Early to middle | Tracked visits and enquiries per post |
| Structured reference content | Give search engines and AI systems the facts to quote | Early to late | Citations per engine |
Content formats and their jobs. Aemorph's working method.
How does interest media marketing market a business?
Interest media marketing markets a business by putting your content in front of people who follow your topic, which builds familiarity before they search for you and places your facts where AI systems read. DataReportal counted 5.66 billion user identities on social media platforms worldwide, 68.7% of the global population, as of October 2025 (DataReportal, Digital 2026 Global Overview). In a Sprout Social survey of 2,280 social media users in the US, UK and Australia (April to May 2025), 41% of Gen Z started a search on a social platform, against 32% on a search engine, and 76% said social content influenced a purchase in the past six months (Sprout Social, Q2 2025 Pulse Survey; vendor survey of social media users only). The Australian Bureau of Statistics found 51% of Australian employing businesses used social media for their online presence in 2024-25, up from 47% in 2021-22 (ABS, Characteristics of Australian Business 2024-25). The format matters to B2B buyers: in the 2025 Edelman and LinkedIn B2B Thought Leadership Impact Report, a survey of 1,934 business executives worldwide (March to April 2025), 71% of hidden decision-makers said thought leadership is more effective than conventional marketing at showing a vendor's potential value (Edelman and LinkedIn, 2025; co-produced with LinkedIn and fielded to its members).
Interest media also feed AI answers, though counts differ by method. Semrush analysed 89,000 LinkedIn URLs cited across 325,000 prompts (January to February 2026) and found LinkedIn averaged about 11% of AI responses (Semrush, March 2026). Ahrefs measured LinkedIn in 1.16% of 13,492,926 tracked AI responses on 22 October 2026 (Ahrefs benchmarks). The two vendors used different prompt sets, so Aemorph reads both as proof that LinkedIn is cited, not as one number to plan around. Meltwater classed 7.2% of about 5.35 million AI citations in April 2026 as social platforms, from 0.5% in ChatGPT to 15.1% in Grok (Meltwater, May 2026; vendor report). Aemorph treats interest media as a familiarity channel that points back to the owned page holding the verified facts.
Where does influencer marketing fit in a content programme?
Influencer marketing carries your content to a creator's audience, so it is a distribution channel inside a content programme and does not replace the owned pages that state your facts. The IAB projects United States creator economy ad spend of $37 billion in 2025, up 26% from 2024 (IAB, November 2025). The 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer, a survey of 33,938 people in 28 countries, found 48% trust at least one influencer (Edelman, 2026). In an Ad Standards and Roy Morgan survey of 1,006 Australians, 84% said it is important that influencers disclose when content is advertising, and 57% encounter influencer marketing daily (fieldwork 18 May 2026 to 1 June 2026, Roy Morgan). The Australian influencer marketing guide covers choosing creators and the Australian rules for labelling paid posts.
How does email marketing fit in a content programme?
Email marketing keeps the audience you have already earned, because it reaches readers who asked to hear from you and sends them back to your pages. Measurement is the weak point. Sinch Mailgun's Email Impact Report 2026 (more than 1,200 senders surveyed from late September to early November 2025) found fewer than half of organisations reliably track email ROI, and 60% of those that do report more than $10 returned for every $1 spent (as reported by TechRadar; vendor survey, and the 60% covers only senders who measure). Litmus defines its top performers as the top 8% of teams, with email ROI of 45:1 or higher (Litmus State of Email 2026; vendor survey of 500 marketers). In a Pureprofile survey of 1,050 Australian consumers (July 2025), 76% favoured email for time-sensitive offers, against 40% for SMS (Pureprofile for Intuit Mailchimp; commissioned by an email vendor).
How does video fit in a content programme?
Video explains a product or idea faster than text, and YouTube is the source Google's AI answers cite most often in the studies below. In Wyzowl's 2026 video marketing survey of 266 respondents, 82% of marketers said video gives a good ROI, down from 93% in 2025 (Wyzowl, 2026; vendor survey, directional). The citation data sits in the section on AI citations below.
Which format fits which buying stage?
Content supports your sales across the full buying journey, so each stage needs the format that answers its question. Early-stage content answers a broad question before the buyer knows a solution exists. Middle-stage content compares options and builds the case for a category. Late-stage content helps a buyer choose between named vendors. In Aemorph's working model, putting the whole budget into the early stage is a strategic error: broad content brings traffic, while the late-stage content that closes a decision already in motion goes under-funded.
| Stage | Buyer question | Formats | Job of the content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early | A broad question, before the buyer knows a solution exists | Educational articles, interest media marketing, video | Answer the question and earn attention |
| Middle | Which kind of solution fits? | Category comparisons, explainer video, email | Compare options and build the case for a category |
| Late | Which named vendor do we choose? | Comparisons, case studies, pricing guides, email | Support the final choice between named vendors |
Content by buying stage, drawn from this guide.
Buyers now use AI inside that journey, so each piece serves a bigger group of readers than one persona. In a Gartner survey of 645 B2B buyers fielded in August and September 2025, 45% used generative AI, mainly to gather information on vendors and products, buyers drew on an average of seven information sources in a recent purchase, and 69% validate AI-generated insights with sales representatives (Gartner, 20 May 2026).
| Step | What you do | What you end up with |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | List the questions buyers ask at each stage and in each role, from sales calls, support tickets and search queries | One question list per stage |
| 2 | Give each question one piece in the format that suits it, and word its title as the buyer words the question | One planned piece per question |
| 3 | Attach one dated, sourced figure or first-party fact to each piece | A reason for the reader to prefer your answer |
| 4 | Set the measure that matches the format and the stage's job | Rankings and clicks early, enquiries late |
| 5 | Set a refresh date for every piece | A dated update schedule |

The LLM Influencer System Puts Your Content in Search, AI Chats and Interest Media
The LLM Influencer System, Aemorph's SEO, AEO and GEO programme, places the content you publish in Google's results, in AI answers and on interest media, because it works from one verified record of your facts. Aemorph's engagements centre on search: traditional search engines, the AI chats and the interest media around both. The other formats in this guide run alongside that work, and the verified record keeps their facts the same.
The system has three layers, and each layer draws on different formats:
| Layer | Where buyers meet it | Formats that feed it | Discipline | Aemorph component |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Traditional search engines | Google and Bing results | Articles, guides, video | SEO | The Authority Truth Engine, Aemorph's on-site entity SEO and structured data, builds the verified record |
| Answer surfaces | Google AI Overviews, featured snippets and voice answers | Structured reference content | AEO | The same record, written as direct answers |
| AI chats | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity | Articles plus third-party coverage | GEO | The Resonance Network, Aemorph's digital PR and third-party citations, confirms each fact on independent sources |
| Interest media | LinkedIn, YouTube and podcasts | Posts, videos and episodes | Interest media marketing, also called interest media optimisation | The Multi-Surface Signal Machine, Aemorph's cross-platform, multi-format content, repeats the record in text, video and audio |
How the LLM Influencer System maps to content formats. Source: Aemorph.
How does interest media creation work inside the Multi-Surface Signal Machine?
The Multi-Surface Signal Machine creates the interest media that repeat your verified facts, so buyers meet the same accurate story on every surface in your engagement. Interest media extend the public evidence around your brand in three ways:
- Text: LinkedIn posts, where an industry voice repeats your facts in front of buyers.
- Video: YouTube videos, where descriptions and spoken content repeat the same record.
- Audio: podcasts, where an independent host repeats your facts outside your own channels.
Each piece is checked against the verified record before it goes out, so a LinkedIn post, a video description and a website page state the same facts. Read the full method on the Multi-Surface Signal Machine page.
Why does the system start from the facts and not from the format?
Starting from the verified record keeps every format consistent, because each post, email and video draws on the same approved set of facts. A fact that holds on your website and breaks on a LinkedIn profile weakens the shortlist your sales start from. Aemorph builds the record first, confirms it off-site, then carries it across formats, which is the order the LLM Influencer System follows. Content marketing supplies the volume and variety; the system supplies the facts and the checks.
Content Gets Cited by AI Systems When It Carries Sourced Facts
Published content feeds search engines and AI systems, so a content programme pairs owned pages with third-party coverage, video and interest media, and records citations beside traffic. Each engine answers from what it has learned and looked up about a business across many sources, and your website is only one of them. In Aemorph's view, thin or inconsistent content gives those systems less to confirm your facts against, which weakens your case for citation.
Do fewer people click when an AI summary appears?
Fewer searches end in a click when an AI summary appears, so traffic alone misses part of what content earns. In Pew Research Center's March 2025 study of 900 US adults, a results page with an AI summary led to a click on a traditional result in 8% of visits, against 15% without a summary, and to a click on a source cited inside the summary in 1% of visits (Pew Research Center, July 2025). These are American figures, not Australian ones. The Reuters Institute's Digital News Report 2026, covering 27 markets, found 4% of respondents always or often click through to the sources behind AI answers, against 19% for search and 17% for social media (Reuters Institute, 2026).
| Measure | Share of visits | Page condition | Sample | Data collected | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Click on a traditional result link | 15% | No AI summary shown | 900 US adults | March 2025 | Pew Research Center, 22 Jul 2025 |
| Click on a traditional result link | 8% | AI summary shown | 900 US adults | March 2025 | Pew Research Center, 22 Jul 2025 |
| Click on a source cited inside the AI summary | 1% | AI summary shown | 900 US adults | March 2025 | Pew Research Center, 22 Jul 2025 |
Source: Pew Research Center, July 2025.
Does owned content alone earn AI citations?
In the studies below, most AI citations point to sites the brand does not own, so a content programme pairs owned pages with third-party coverage. An arXiv study of 131,514 citations from Perplexity, Gemini and GPT-5.4 answers about brands in 12 European markets found 85.7% pointed to sites the brand does not own, and B2B brands' owned domains drew 13.1% (arXiv 2606.25787, 2026, from a commercial AI-visibility vendor). Muck Rack analysed more than 25 million links in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini answers across 17 sectors (May 2026) and classed about 84% as earned media and about 16% as owned and paid content combined (Muck Rack, May 2026; PR software vendor, own classification). A controlled arXiv experiment found 92.1% of US consumer electronics citations came from earned, third-party media (arXiv 2509.08919, September 2025). Aemorph treats contributed articles, reviews and digital PR as part of distribution for that reason, with the owned page holding the verified facts the third-party coverage repeats.
Which platforms and formats do AI engines cite?
YouTube is the most-cited video source in Google's AI answers, and LinkedIn's share depends on the study. The table lists each measure with its vendor, period and denominator, because the studies use different prompt sets and do not compare directly.
| Platform | Figure | Engines and period | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube | 29.5% of citations in Google AI Overviews; 16.6% in Google AI Mode; 9.7% in Perplexity; 0.2% in ChatGPT | May 2024 to September 2025 | BrightEdge, sample size not stated |
| YouTube | 22.9% of the top-50 domains' citations in Google AI Overviews, first place | US, September 2026 | Ahrefs Brand Radar |
| YouTube mentions | Correlation of 0.737 with brand visibility in AI answers, the strongest of the factors tested | 75,000 brands, ChatGPT, AI Mode and AI Overviews | Ahrefs, correlation and not cause |
| About 11% of AI responses on average | 89,000 URLs, 325,000 prompts, January to February 2026 | Semrush | |
| 1.16% of 13,492,926 tracked AI responses | 22 October 2026 | Ahrefs benchmarks | |
| Social platforms (Meltwater's class) | 7.2% of about 5.35 million citations; 0.5% in ChatGPT, 11.9% in Google AI Overviews | April 2026, eight LLMs | Meltwater |
Citation shares by platform. All sources are vendor studies; read each row on its own.
Format matters as well as platform. An arXiv study of 102,025 AI answers across five engines found ranked best-of listicles drew 21.0% of citations, generic articles 18.3% and how-to guides 5.7% (arXiv 2606.20065, March to May 2026, single-vendor preprint). A separate arXiv analysis of 158,099 answers found pages whose title matched a user question earned 14.1% more citations per standard deviation, while an FAQ block went with 3.4% fewer citations, a difference that was not statistically significant (arXiv 2610.15033, 2026). Freshness matters most for fast-moving topics: a study of four Chinese-language generative search platforms found citation frequency halved about every 39 days of page age for time-sensitive queries (arXiv 2607.15771, 2026; Chinese-language engines only, so read it as directional elsewhere).
Do all AI engines cite the same pages?
No: engines cite different pages, so citation tracking works per engine and not as one score. In an arXiv audit of 15 commercial prompts on ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google and Perplexity on 6 June 2026, 96.4% of cited URLs appeared in only one engine (arXiv 2609.22655). The sample is 15 prompts, so Aemorph quotes it as an illustration of divergence and not as a population figure.
How do you keep AI-assisted content credible?
AI-assisted content stays credible when a named person checks every claim against a source and publishes the source with it. An audit of 712 real queries on ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini and Perplexity found about 16% of unique cited sources were AI-generated, with 27.8% of Copilot's citations and 7.3% of ChatGPT's (arXiv 2605.23684, Northwestern University, 2026). A European Broadcasting Union and BBC study of more than 3,000 AI assistant answers across 18 countries found serious sourcing problems in 31% of responses (EBU and BBC, October 2025). In the ANUpoll, 73.6% of Australian adults agreed that generative AI poses a risk to democracy by spreading misinformation (Australian National University, 2026). In the Ad Standards and Roy Morgan tracker, 72% of Australians were concerned about AI-generated content in advertising and 64% wanted AI-generated content in advertising disclosed in every case (Roy Morgan, May 2026). Inside Australian workplaces, 60% of workers said they had hidden their use of AI and 57% had relied on AI output without checking its accuracy, and only 30% said their organisation has a generative AI policy (Melbourne Business School, 2025). A named author and a recorded review step answer those findings.
Accuracy has an Australian legal side as well. The ACCC tells businesses that claims need to be true, accurate and based on reasonable grounds, and that creating fake or misleading reviews is against the law (ACCC guide). On email, ACMA found that Lululemon Athletica Australia sent more than 370,000 emails with no unsubscribe option because it treated them as service messages although they carried sales content, and the company paid an A$702,900 infringement penalty (ACMA, March 2026). Meeting those rules stays your obligation.
General guidance, not legal advice.
Aemorph applies three tests before publishing a piece in any format:
- Question test: the title matches a question a named Australian buyer asks, in that buyer's words.
- Evidence test: the piece carries at least one dated, sourced figure or first-party fact that a competitor's page does not.
- Consistency test: every fact matches the business's approved facts everywhere else they are published.
How do you measure content marketing?
Measure each piece against the job its format and buying stage give it, and record AI citations next to traffic, because few AI-summary visits end in a click. The Content Marketing Institute's 2026 B2B survey of 1,015 marketers found 12% rating their content programme highly effective and 33% naming measurement among their top three challenges (Content Marketing Institute, 2026).
| Layer | What you track | Tool | How often |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rankings and clicks | Positions and clicks for each target question | Google Search Console | Monthly |
| Business outcomes | Leads, bookings, calls and enquiries each page, email and post brings in, with one agreed definition of each conversion | GA4 | Monthly |
| Interest media, video and email | Reach, watch time, replies and list growth for each format | Each platform's own analytics | Monthly |
| AI citations | What Google AI Overviews and the AI chats say about your business on your priority topics, checked per engine, plus what LinkedIn and YouTube say | Spot checks on each engine and platform | Quarterly |
| Freshness | Days since each piece was last reviewed or updated | Content register | Quarterly |

What Aemorph's Content Work Shows in Australia
Content sat inside all four of these Australian engagements, and monthly organic visits rose in each over the engagement. The table lists what was published and the organic visits at the start and end of each engagement.
| Client | Content published | Engagement | Monthly organic visits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remarkable Furniture, outdoor furniture retail | Topical and location-specific blog content, with a catalogue restructure and local profiles | Sep 2019 to Oct 2020, 13 months | 3,883 to 12,172 (+213%) |
| Smile Team, orthodontics | Two location-specific blog posts a month, with local backlinks | Oct 2021 to Feb 2024, 28 months | 2,506 to 5,629 (+125%) |
| Eye Concepts, optometry | 24 blog articles published over 12 months, plus location-page content and links | Jun 2019 to Feb 2024, 56 months | 2,008 to 12,483 (+522%) |
| BizCover, insurance | Product and blog page content, with technical fixes and links | Dec 2015 to Sep 2023, nearly 8 years | 894 to 43,989 (+4,820%) |
Source: Ahrefs organic traffic, August 2026. Organic search results, not AI citations. Each row compares two dates and does not isolate which part of the work caused the change. How results are measured
Annualised, BizCover grew 65% a year for nearly eight years, Smile Team 41% a year for 28 months and Remarkable Furniture 187% a year after about 18 months of flat traffic. Google AI Overviews also cite Eye Concepts for 226 Australian search terms with 63,430 combined monthly searches (Ahrefs organic keywords, Australia, June 2026; Google AI Overview citations, not AI chat citations). These engagements were search-led article work; the other formats in this guide sit beside that work and are not what the table measures. Read each result on its case study page: Eye Concepts, Smile Team, BizCover and Remarkable Furniture.
