For a Singapore website, the SEO checklist runs in nine dependent stages: measure first, open the site to crawlers, map search terms, tune each page, publish content worth citing, earn links, complete the Google Business Profile, qualify for Google's AI answers, and get named inside the AI chats Singapore buyers use. Google held 92.16% of Singapore search in September 2026, so most checks confirm in Search Console. This edition adds what changes in Singapore: a phone-first audience, the PDPA duties behind analytics and enquiry forms, the competition regulator's action against fake reviews, and the checklist tips Google's documentation no longer supports.

How Does This SEO Checklist Work?
The stages stack: a page Googlebot never reaches gains nothing from a stronger heading, and a page missing from Google's index never becomes a supporting link in an AI Overview or AI Mode. Launching a site, work through all nine. Inheriting an older site, audit stages one and two across the domain first, then move page by page through the rest, beginning with the pages that bring in enquiries from Singapore buyers. Google's Search Essentials state the floor, a reachable page, a working server response and indexable content, and also state that clearing it secures no crawl, index or ranking.
| Stage | What it covers in Singapore | Where you confirm it | Passed when | Follow-up guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Setup | Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Google Analytics 4 | Search Console | Both tools verified with data arriving | Keyword rankings |
| 2. Technical | Crawling, indexing, sitemaps, HTTPS, phone performance | URL Inspection | Priority URLs indexed, no crawl errors | Technical SEO |
| 3. Keywords | Singapore search terms, intent, one page per topic | Keyword tool set to Singapore | No two pages chase one term | Keyword research |
| 4. On-page | Titles, descriptions, headings, URLs, images, links | Page source and Search Console | Each page states its purpose plainly | On-page SEO audit |
| 5. Content | Original, sourced, authored pages | Google's self-assessment questions | Each page settles its query | Content marketing, SEO copywriting |
| 6. Links | Earned links from relevant Singapore and regional sites | Backlink tool | Fresh links come from real, relevant sites | Off-page SEO, Link building outreach |
| 7. Local | Google Business Profile and genuine reviews | Business Profile Manager | Each outlet matches its signage | Local SEO |
| 8. AEO | AI Overviews, AI Mode and featured snippets | Live results searched from Singapore | Priority pages snippet-eligible | AEO guide, Featured snippets |
| 9. GEO | Citation in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity | robots.txt and a monthly prompt log | Search crawlers allowed and facts aligned | GEO guide |

How do you use this as an SEO audit checklist?
Score every check against the live site as pass, fail or not applicable, and fix the fails stage by stage from the top, since one early failure blocks the stages beneath it. The commercial question sits alongside the technical one: Aemorph's free Money on the Table audit prices a visibility gap in one revenue figure, and the on-page SEO audit guide takes stage four apart page by page.
How Singapore Search Shapes This Checklist
Singapore browses on phones first and searches on Google almost exclusively, so a Singapore checklist judges every page on its mobile version and treats Search Console as the main source of truth. StatCounter recorded 56.86% of Singapore web traffic on mobile and 41.56% on desktop in September 2026. Bing held 4.53%, close to its worldwide share, so Bing Webmaster Tools stays a quick setup step rather than a priority. English is the language most often spoken at home by 48.3% of residents, according to the 2020 Census, so sites serving Chinese, Malay or Tamil readers check each language version as its own page.
| Measure | Figure | Effect on the checklist | Period | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google's share of Singapore search | 92.16% | Search Console confirms nearly every check | September 2026 | StatCounter Global Stats |
| Bing's share of Singapore search | 4.53% | Bing verification stays a short setup task | September 2026 | StatCounter Global Stats |

Setup Checklist: Search Console, Bing and Analytics
Measurement goes in before any change: Google Analytics 4 records events only from installation onwards, while Search Console collects data for a property from the moment anyone adds it, so check for an existing property before assuming no history exists. Search Console reports Google's crawl, index and search data for your pages; Bing Webmaster Tools covers Bing; Google Analytics 4 shows what visitors did after arriving. Google Analytics 4 has replaced Universal Analytics, whose data stopped being accessible from the week of 1 July 2024. Analytics and enquiry forms collect personal data, and the PDPA requires consent for the purposes of collection, notice of those purposes and reasonable security arrangements, so the setup stage covers the consent banner and privacy notice too.
| # | Setup check | What it gives you | Proof it is done | Target state |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Google Search Console domain property verified | Google's own crawl, index and query data | Performance report shows Singapore queries | Verified |
| 2 | Bing Webmaster Tools site verified | Bing's crawl report and IndexNow support | Sitemap processed | Verified |
| 3 | Google Analytics 4 running with key events | Enquiries from organic visits counted | Key events recorded | Live |
| 4 | XML sitemap submitted in both tools | URLs listed for crawling | Sitemap status shows success | Submitted |
| 5 | Consent and privacy notice cover analytics and forms | PDPA consent, notification and protection duties | Notice linked beside each form | Published |

Which checks does a new website need before launch?
On launch day for a Singapore site, confirm robots.txt lets crawlers into the live domain, delete any staging noindex rule, load every page over HTTPS with a working status code, and map every old URL to its nearest new page with a permanent redirect. Each miss causes a common launch loss: a robots.txt block stops crawling, a leftover noindex drops the pages carrying it, an HTTPS error stops pages loading, and a missing redirect strands the old URL's visitors and links. Google's site move guidance asks for server-side permanent redirects held for at least a year. Aemorph's guide to web design and development sets out how to plan, build and launch a site with search built in.
Technical SEO Checklist: Crawling, Indexing, Speed and Security
Technical checks confirm that Googlebot reaches each important URL, that the index keeps the intended version, and that the page loads quickly and securely on a phone, because Google indexes and ranks the mobile version of every site. URL Inspection answers three questions per URL: was it crawled, is it indexed, and which canonical did Google pick. Google ignores the priority and change-frequency fields in a sitemap and trusts the last-modified date only while it stays accurate.
| # | Technical check | What it protects | Proof it is done | Follow-up guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | Googlebot is allowed in robots.txt | Blocked URLs are never crawled | robots.txt report in Search Console | Technical SEO, How search engines work |
| 7 | Pages kept out of results use noindex | robots.txt manages crawling and does not keep a page out of Google, and Google reads noindex only on a crawlable page | URL Inspection indexed result | What is SEO, How search engines work |
| 8 | Priority URLs return HTTP 200 and are indexed | Only working pages with indexable content are indexed | Page indexing report | Technical SEO, 404 errors |
| 9 | Duplicate product or outlet URLs name one canonical | Google shows one URL per duplicate cluster | Google-selected canonical | On-page SEO audit |
| 10 | The sitemap lists indexable URLs with honest dates | lastmod is used only while accurate | Sitemaps report | Technical SEO |
| 11 | Every page loads over HTTPS | Secure serving is a page experience question | Padlock on each template | Technical SEO |

Keyword Research Checklist: Terms, Intent and One Page per Topic
Keyword research gives each Singapore page one search term to own, and intent settles the match: when Google ranks comparison pages or service pages for a term, an informational post sits in the wrong place. Run every tool on the Singapore database, since local terms such as "HDB renovation", "aircon servicing" or "corporate secretarial" carry demand that global figures miss. Google Ads Keyword Planner shows volume ranges once billing details are entered. Google's language systems link related phrasing, so one page covers close variants of its term.
| # | Keyword check | What it protects | Proof it is done | Follow-up guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16 | One primary Singapore term per priority page | Pages stop competing for one query | Keyword map, one URL per row | Keyword research |
| 17 | Page type matches what ranks in Singapore | A guide-seeker skips a sales page | Singapore top results reviewed | Keyword research |
| 18 | Narrow variants live on their parent page when intent agrees | Narrow terms often carry lower difficulty | Difficulty compared in the Singapore database | Keyword research |
| 19 | Rankings tracked on mobile and desktop | Results differ by device and location | Rank tracker set to Singapore | Keyword rankings |
| 20 | Competitor terms checked for gaps | Reveals services your site never explains | Content gap report | Keyword research |

On-Page SEO Checklist: Titles, Descriptions, Headings and Images
On-page checks get each Singapore page to say plainly what it is: a title no other page shares, a description that sums the page up, headings that outline it, readable URLs, alt text that explains every image and internal links that reach every page. Google applies no length limit to titles or descriptions and shortens them to fit the screen, so front-load the words that matter. Google Search does not read the keywords meta tag, and keywords in a domain or URL path add little beyond breadcrumbs.
| # | On-page check | What it protects | Proof it is done | Follow-up guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 21 | Titles are unique and name the offer | The title drives the title link in results | Crawl export, duplicates flagged | On-page SEO audit |
| 22 | Descriptions are unique and summarise the page | Google uses them when they describe the page best | Crawl export of descriptions | On-page SEO audit |
| 23 | One main heading leads a clear outline | Order serves screen readers; Google reads it regardless | Heading outline | On-page SEO audit |
| 24 | URLs are readable words | Readers judge links before clicking | URL review | On-page SEO audit |
| 25 | Alt text explains each image that carries meaning, in a supported format | Alt text ties the image to the content | Alt attribute audit | Image SEO |
| 26 | Every page receives an internal link | Links drive discovery and relevance | Orphan page report | Anchor text |

Content Checklist: Helpful, Original and Clearly Sourced
Content clears this stage when it answers a Singapore buyer's question more fully than the current results, adds first-hand detail such as local pricing, schemes or regulations, carries a named author and sources every figure. Google states it has no preferred word count and names trust as the most important quality. Google accepts generative AI for research and structure, while churning out pages without added value counts as scaled content abuse, so a person fact-checks each AI-assisted draft before release.
| # | Content check | What it protects | Proof it is done | Follow-up guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 28 | The opening sentence answers the query | Readers and AI answers both lift the opening claim | Opening read against the query | SPO triple architecture |
| 29 | The page adds original Singapore detail | Google's self-assessment asks for original analysis | Comparison with the top five Singapore results | Content marketing |
| 30 | Author and date are on the page | Google encourages accurate bylines | Byline visible | What is SEO |
| 31 | Figures carry linked sources | Sourcing is one of Google's trust questions | Source note per figure | Content marketing |
| 32 | AI-assisted drafts pass a human fact-check | Generative models predict words rather than retrieve facts | Review record | Content marketing |
| 33 | Thin or near-duplicate pages are merged or rebuilt | Scaled low-value pages breach Google's spam policies | No-click pages reviewed yearly | On-page SEO audit |

Link Building Checklist: Earned Links, Not Link Schemes
Links from relevant Singapore and regional sites keep feeding Google's judgement of a page, and Google's spam policies exclude links bought or arranged to pass ranking credit. Google counts buying or selling links for ranking, keyword-optimised anchors in guest posts or press releases placed elsewhere, and excessive link swaps as link spam. Paid placements and sponsorships remain fine when the link carries rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow". Aemorph builds links within its SEO service, together with the technical and content work that makes each link worth having.
| # | Link check | What it protects | Proof it is done | Follow-up guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 34 | New links come from sites relevant to your sector | Relevance is the signal Google reads | Referring domains sorted by topic | Off-page SEO |
| 35 | Paid and sponsored links carry rel="sponsored" | Unmarked paid links breach the link spam policy | Sponsor pages audited | Off-page SEO |
| 36 | Guest post anchors read naturally | Optimised guest post anchors are named link spam | Anchor text report | Anchor text |
| 37 | Backlinks to moved pages are redirected | A link to a moved page passes nothing until it redirects to the replacement; a removed page with no replacement keeps its 404 | Broken backlinks report | Off-page SEO |
| 38 | Unlinked mentions in Singapore media are converted | Existing mentions are the warmest prospects | Brand mention search | Off-page SEO |

Local SEO Checklist: Google Business Profile and Reviews
Singapore local results depend on a Google Business Profile that matches the outlet customers walk into: the registered trading name with no added keywords, the exact unit address or service area, current hours and the right primary category. Google's guidelines prohibit unnecessary words in a business name and warn of suspension, and businesses serving customers at their homes hide the street address. Reviews are under active enforcement: on 30 September 2026 the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore acted against 45 businesses that admitted buying fake reviews, requiring them to stop, remove the reviews and publish an apology for six months. Aemorph's local SEO service is built for businesses that run a network of locations.
| # | Local check | What it protects | Proof it is done | Target state |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 39 | Profile name matches the outlet signage | Keywords in the name breach Google's guidelines | Name compared with the storefront | Matches |
| 40 | Unit address exact, or service area set with address hidden | Service-area businesses hide the street address | Address settings | Accurate |
| 41 | Primary category names the main service | The category sets which searches the profile meets | Category setting | Correct |
| 42 | Name, address and phone agree across directories | Conflicting details weaken the location record | Citation audit | Consistent |
| 43 | Reviews come only from real customers, never bought or rewarded | Google treats incentivised reviews as fake engagement, and fake reviews draw CCS enforcement action | Review requests sent after genuine purchases | Genuine |

AEO Checklist: Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and Featured Snippets
Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode cite pages from Google's index, and Google states there is no technical requirement beyond being indexed and eligible for a snippet, so the AEO stage checks eligibility first and then writes answers short enough to quote. Snippet controls differ in scope: noindex keeps the whole page out of results, nosnippet and max-snippet:0 stop its text feeding AI Overviews and AI Mode directly, data-nosnippet excludes only the marked passage, and a positive max-snippet value only caps excerpt length, so read each directive and value before diagnosing a missing citation. Earning Google's answer surfaces is AEO, covered in the AEO guide.
| # | AEO check | What it protects | Proof it is done | Follow-up guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 44 | Priority pages indexed with no blocking snippet control | The one technical requirement for an AI Overview link | URL Inspection and source check | AEO guide |
| 45 | Each question heading is answered in one sentence | Answer surfaces lift short, complete answers | Sentence under each question heading read | AEO guide |

GEO Checklist: Citation in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity
AI chats with live search fetch Singapore websites through dedicated search crawlers, so the GEO stage begins by allowing OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot and PerplexityBot in robots.txt and then aligns the business's core facts everywhere a model reads them. OpenAI states that sites opted out of OAI-SearchBot are not shown in ChatGPT search answers, and Anthropic states that blocking Claude-SearchBot lowers visibility in Claude's search results. Blocking GPTBot or ClaudeBot from training is a separate decision. Citation in these chats is GEO, Aemorph's main discipline, set out in the GEO guide; the AI SEO guide shows SEO, AEO and GEO run as one programme.
| # | GEO check | What it protects | Proof it is done | Follow-up guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 47 | OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot and PerplexityBot allowed | Effects differ: ChatGPT search omits the site except as a navigational link, Claude shows it less, and Perplexity asks sites to allow PerplexityBot to appear in its results | robots.txt reviewed | GEO guide, How search engines work |
| 48 | UEN, address, services and prices agree everywhere | Conflicting facts produce conflicting AI answers | Fact list compared across profiles | Cross-platform AI brand inconsistency |
| 49 | Each core fact stated in one clear sentence | Models quote what they read plainly | Core-fact sentences listed | SPO triple architecture |

Work Through the Checklist in Order for Your Singapore Site
A Singapore site that passes setup and technical access first, then improves page by page through keywords, page tuning, content and links, keeps its rankings, and the local, AEO and GEO stages carry those pages into Google Maps, Google's AI answers and the AI chats Singapore buyers ask. Repeat stage two after each site release and the GEO prompt log each month. The free Money on the Table audit prices the visibility gap these checks close, and Aemorph's SEO service works every stage as part of the LLM Influencer System.
This guide sets out Aemorph's reading of the Singapore rules it mentions, current at October 2026. It is general information, not legal advice; confirm how a rule applies to your business with a qualified adviser.
