# On-Page SEO Audit for Singapore Websites: A Step-by-Step Checklist for Titles, Content, Images and Speed

**An on-page SEO audit for a Singapore website checks each important page against one fixed list of content, markup and technical items, and then ranks the fixes by the search visibility each one brings back.** The audit runs in six passes: titles and headings, meta descriptions, content quality, images, URLs and sitemaps, then mobile and speed. Most Singapore web traffic now arrives on phones, so this version of the checklist treats the mobile layout as the main one and desktop as the second.

## What Tools Does an On-Page Audit Need?

**Three kinds of tool cover a Singapore on-page audit: a site crawler, a speed tester and Google Search Console.** A crawler such as Screaming Frog exports each page's title, headings, meta description, status code, word count and image attributes. Google PageSpeed Insights gives lab diagnostics through Lighthouse and shows real-user Core Web Vitals where the Chrome UX Report holds enough data for the page or its origin ([PageSpeed Insights](https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/v5/about)). Google Search Console lists the queries each page wins and the pages Google has left out of its index. A backlink tool rounds things out once the audit reaches links.

## What Singapore Search Data Changes in the Audit?

**Phones carry most Singapore web traffic and Google carries most Singapore search, so a Singapore audit starts with the mobile view in Google's tools.** StatCounter recorded 56.86% of Singapore web traffic on mobile and 41.56% on desktop in September 2026 ([StatCounter, platforms](https://gs.statcounter.com/platform-market-share/desktop-mobile-tablet/singapore/)), and Google held 92.16% of search engine market share in Singapore that month ([StatCounter, search engines](https://gs.statcounter.com/search-engine-market-share/all/singapore)). [IMDA](https://www.imda.gov.sg/resources/press-releases-factsheets-and-speeches/factsheets/2025/ar-sgde-2025) reports that 73.8% of Singapore workers used AI tools at work in 2024.

| Measure | Figure | Market and date | Source |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Mobile share of web traffic | 56.86% | Singapore, September 2026 | StatCounter |
| Desktop share of web traffic | 41.56% | Singapore, September 2026 | StatCounter |
| Google search engine market share | 92.16% | Singapore, September 2026 | StatCounter |
| Workers using AI tools at work | 73.8% | Singapore, 2024 | IMDA |

## How Do You Audit Title Tags?

**Every indexable page gets its own title tag, and that title names the page's main subject in plain language.** Filter the crawl for missing and duplicate titles, then check priority pages against the titles Google displays for them. Put the subject first. Duplicate titles flag pages for review: compare their content, intent and Search Console queries, give distinct pages distinct titles and consolidate only pages with the same intent.

## How Do You Audit Heading Tags?

**A page needs a single H1 that states its subject, followed by H2 and H3 headings that outline it in a sensible order.** Pull every heading from the crawl and confirm four points: only one H1, levels that nest correctly, headings that describe the text beneath them, and no headings used just for visual styling. Headings written as the questions Singapore buyers type help people and answer systems land on the right passage.

## How Do You Audit Meta Descriptions?

**The meta description is a short summary that persuades the searcher to click.** Google writes snippets mostly from the page itself and uses the meta description where it describes the page better than the on-page text; it also calls the same description repeated across pages unhelpful ([Google Search Central, snippets](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/snippet)). Give each page its own summary, readable on a phone screen. Pull missing and duplicate descriptions from the crawl and fix the busiest pages first.

## How Do You Audit Content Quality?

**Two content problems matter most: duplicate pages and thin pages.** Duplicates arise when more than one URL serves the same text, and Google chooses a single canonical URL from the set. Mark your preferred version with rel="canonical" and redirect URLs you no longer need ([Google Search Central, consolidate duplicate URLs](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/consolidate-duplicate-urls)). A thin page gives a reader nothing they came for. Sort the crawl by word count, read the shortest indexable pages and choose one outcome for each: build it out, fold it into a stronger page or retire it.

## How Do You Audit Images?

**Each image that carries meaning needs alt text that describes it, a short descriptive file name and a file size small enough for a fast load on mobile data.** Google names alt text as the most important attribute for image metadata and advises against keyword stuffing in it ([Google Search Central, image SEO](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/google-images)). The crawl reports both faults. The [image SEO guide](https://aemorph.com/en-sg/guides/image-seo/) lists the complete checks.

## How Do You Audit URLs and Sitemaps?

**A good URL is short, lowercase and descriptive, and a good XML sitemap lists canonical, indexable pages and nothing else.** Look for duplicate-creating parameters, redirect chains and error URLs. Open the sitemap, confirm the pages you want indexed are in it, and submit it in Google Search Console. Compare it with the crawl to find indexable pages it leaves out and listed pages that redirect or fail. If you run language or regional versions of a page, Google accepts the hreflang annotations in the sitemap as one of three equivalent methods, alongside HTML tags and HTTP headers ([Google Search Central, localised versions](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/specialty/international/localized-versions)).

## How Do You Audit Mobile Responsiveness?

**Load each key template on a phone first, and confirm the text is readable without zooming, tap targets have room between them and nothing scrolls sideways.** Mobile carried more than half of Singapore web traffic in September 2026; your own GA4 device report shows the share of your visitors affected. Start with Chrome DevTools device mode, then check on real handsets. Tables, forms and fixed-position banners are where mobile layouts break most.

## How Do You Audit Page Speed?

**Test sample URLs from each template in PageSpeed Insights, and clear the biggest delays first.** Oversized images, render-blocking scripts and slow server response are the usual culprits. A template fix reaches every page built on it, so re-test busy pages and pages with their own images or scripts afterwards.

## In What Order Do You Fix the Findings?

**Work through findings in this sequence: indexing blockers, duplicate titles and canonicals, thin pages, images, and then speed.** An indexing blocker removes a page from search altogether, so it goes ahead of any wording change. Record each finding's URL, problem, fix and owner, crawl again after changes ship, and book the next audit for the following quarter. When the on-page base is in order, turn to [off-page SEO](https://aemorph.com/en-sg/guides/off-page-seo/).

The same crawl lets you review [anchor text on internal links](https://aemorph.com/en-sg/guides/anchor-text/); after that, plan new titles with [keyword research](https://aemorph.com/en-sg/guides/keyword-research/) and measure the gains with [rank tracking tools](https://aemorph.com/saas-tools/seo/rank-tracking/).
